I was surprised to learn that the lead designer on Starcraft (best...game....ever) actually left to help form Arena.Net.

Hmm. I'm thinking that the colours round the cities show which faction holds them, and the wall may be the battle-line between the factions. Pink cities are on the pink side of the line and green cities are on the green side. The only pink city on the green side is surrounded by green blobs - under siege?
